Voice Dream Reader is an accessible reading app for Android. It supports a variety of formats, including PDF, and has features that meet a wide variety of student needs. Voice Dream has in-app text highlighting and speech output, dictionaries and note-taking tools, and works well with the TalkBack screen reader for students with visual impairments

Visual Interaction

  • View files in original layout or with preferred font, colour, and spacing when in text mode
  • Adjust highlight colour, style, and scrolling
  • Completely hide user interface buttons and controls while reading
  • Select from pre-set page themes

Auditory Interaction

  • Have text read aloud in a variety of built-in voices
  • Pause for a specified time period (seconds) between sentences
  • Change speech rate during active reading
  • Adjust word pronunciation (correct mispronunciations)
  • Have a selected word pronounced (even if not using other auditory features)
  • Compatible with TalkBack screen reader

Tactile Interaction

  • Read text in braille when used with TalkBack (and BrailleBack) and a refreshable braille display
