Headings provide students with more easily navigable learning materials as well as access to the organization of topics and sub-topics as determined by the content creator. By relying on formatting to denote the different levels of semantic headings e.g., main headings, section headings, sub-headings) instead of only on visual features (e.g., bold, different colour, larger font), learning content becomes more accessible and useable for all.
